January... the month of happiness :)

salam & hi everyone.. hope it's not too late to wish Happy new year..hehe this is the 2nd update for this year ..so sorry for not updating for a long time...  many things to share but i'll make a summary of what has happen lately.. in the month of January... it was a month of happiness & celebration because i celebrated my birthday & my wedding anniversary ..

15th January 2012... my 28th birthday..time really flies hehe sometimes i just can't believe it that in 2 years time i'll reach the big 30.. but Alhamdulillah, i'm grateful to Allah that i have the chance to live in this beautiful world.. i'm blessed with a wonderful family, a supportive & understanding husband & a cute lil daughter..not forgetting caring parents & lovely sister..
this year my beloved hubby bought my iphone 4s for me...i've been wanting a new phone since june last year when my previous samsung phone camera broke down..that samsung was my wedding hantaran.. so i was reluctant at first to change to a new phone..

then, later that afternoon we went to Mid Valley for birthday lunch at my favourite place hehe Chili's..

then since we were in Mid Valley, i took the chance of shopping some things..hehe bought a few shawl from Arzu.. since ada promotions, buy 1 free 1 :)

then, went back home to my in laws house... later that night, hubby bought a cake & celebrated with hubby's family.. thank u so much :)

24th Janaury 2012 ..was my 2nd wedding anniversary.. Alhamdulillah, it has been 2 wonderful years.. with a lot of ups & down.. I'm thankful enough that i have a caring, understanding husband...wonderful father for my daughter Arianna Sofea..love u always..

That day was chinese new year holiday..there were not many cars going towards centre of KL.. so i decided to celebrate our anniversary @ Al-Amar Express, Bukit Bintang.. i have read a few reviews on this Lebanese food.. & was excited to try it..

Salam.. sorry for the long pause, i was busy with work... i have many things to tell & share... my baby Arianna is already 1 year old now.. how time flies kan.. it just felt like yesterday that i went through labour.. it was a blissful pregnancy, Alhamdulillah. it is just wonderful to see her grow from the day she was born until today, i really miss the small baby Arianna :)

Alhamdulillah i was able to organized a small & simple birthday party for my lil Arianna Sofea.. we managed to organized at my parents’s house in Shah Alam on 7th november .. hubby was busy with master's exam & the only day he's free is during public holiday.. it was a pink fairy tale theme..

Happy 1 year old my baby Arianna :) Mama will always love you more & more each day.. & will always be there for you no matter how busy i am..i'm gonna miss the small lil Arianna who can only cry & crawl a few months ago & now can walk, babble Mama n Papa & even run :) love u always

5 months old....

my baby Arianna Sofea is already 5 months old.. how time flies..it felt like just yesterday i deliver this baby gurl hehe..now at 5 months she's already 6kgs ++  and able to turn from supine to prone position & vice versa.. making me more worried as she like to roll over.. i have to be more careful to prevent her from rolling down the bed hehe she likes to play with her feet & at some instance she will put her toes in her mouth hehe sucking her fingers is her hobby since 4 months old. Smiling & showing her dimples is her speciality :)  I am still breastfeeding her although i'm quite busy with work & oncalls.. but i have started giving her Anmum infacare milk since she demands more milk since this few months, 150cc every 2 hours..i choose anmum because it taste more like breast milk n it has no added sugar.. my breastmilk stock is getting lesser n lesser each day

hmm since some of my friends just became mothers & a few of them will deliver soon.. i just wanted to share something about breastfeeding.. Before i deliver, i don't really know much about breastfeeding but as a doctor we have to encourage mothers to breastfeed their babies exclusively for 6months.. but its a difficult job especially when ur busy working.. since novermber last year, when my lil baby arianna came to life.. i experienced the wonderful things in life, a journey to become a mother.. I wanted to give her the best of everything..that's including exclusively breastfeeding.. during my confinement time, i had many times of breast lumps due to excessive milk production.. then, at times the amount became less & less... but i have learned a few tips from my mom, other mothers & my aunty who is a lactation nurse in hospital selayang..

1. Drink a lot of water
   - at least 8 glasses per day. to produce a lot of milk for the baby, mothers have to drink more too..

2. Drink different types of drink
    - for example : morning drink milo, then brunch nestum, lunch soya bean, tea - barley, dinner milk

3. Food that stimulates milk production
   - dark green vegetables like spinach , fenugreek, yam, ginger and carrot
   - oats and barley can also stimulate milk production

4. Breastfeeding as frequent as possible
  - breastfeeding on demand...at least every 2-3 hours

5. Supplements
  - pil asi, fenugreek tablets.. I've tried pil asi as suggested by some mothers.. it is cheap n it really works! but the thing is that u have to take 5 tablets 3times a day.. i only took twice a day..
  - nursing tea.. i tried earth mama joy angel baby nursing tea.. 16 tea bags for rm40.. for those who can drink herbal tea, this tea would be a good choice.. however, i don't prefer drinking herbal tea..i prefer taking pils..

- soy milk products ... i have tried nutri 99 soya milk drink.. it was recomended by a lactation counseller.. it's know to boost breastmilk production.. this yummy organic soya milk+ aloe vera beverage can be drink hot or cold. other soya milk products that u can try is mililea organic soya milk..

  - domperidone..is an antiemetic medication that increased production of the hormone prolactin. Prolactin is the hormone that stimulates the cells in the mother's breast to produce milk.. it is sold at most of the pharmacy. however, like all other medication.. it has some side effects such as headache 10-30% or abdominal cramps.. but so far Alhamdulillah i didn't experienced any side effects..

6. EBM ( expressed breast milk)

  - especially for working mothers.. to keep the stocks when needed

  - at least every 3 hours... to keep ur breast milk supply, make a habit to pump every 2-3 hours.. it's easy for working mothers who have free time.. because of my busy schedule, i usually ebm 3 times a day..

- EBM milk can last 4-6 hours in room temperature, 2-4 days in fridge and up to 3-6 months in freezer..

7. Don't get stress up...

- studies has shown that when a mother is stress, the breastmilk will be less.. so, enjoy life & don;t be too stressful..

8. breast massage

- Apply a warm compress to your breast, such as a warm towel. Then, with your fingertips, stroke from the top of the breast down and over the nipple.This helps stimulate your oxytocin.

-  massage the breast with the flat of the fingers into the chest wall, beginning at the top and working in a spiral down toward the areola. Massage in a circular motion a few strokes at a time before moving to another spot.

hope that some of these tips helps..some of the tips works on me... tell me whether it works for u..

1 month old

Arianna Sofea is 1 month old .. Times flies… sekejap je my baby dah 1 month old.. I brought her to her 1st month vaccination @ SDMC on 10th December.. Her latest weight 3.88 kg.. naik nearly 1 kg since birth, happy :) dah besar sket anak mama ni :)

A mother's feeling

I never knew how it feels to be a mother until i become one... at this moment i couldn't imagine how my mother took care of me & my twin sister when we were small... taking care of my only lil one pun is sometimes tiring, but i enjoyed it so much... having 2 babies at the same time must be double the tiredness... Thank u so much Ibu for taking care of me ...

Before i become a mother, i didn't understand why some parents will cry during blood taking for their children... but when my baby Arianna was admitted to the hospital for jaundice, then i knew how it feels.. it's sad to see when they poke her to get the blood for investigations... i didnt' realized that tears falling down my cheek when i see her crying.. Arianna was admitted for 3 days for jaundice... we stayed at the hospital for phototherapy.. Her TSB (total serum bilirubin) was 356 but Alhamdulillah after 2 days it dropped to 175.. I was very happy when she was discharged..

Sorry for not updating lately.. busy with the lil one. Alhamdulillah I have safely delivered a baby girl on 10/11/2010 @ 5.53am.. small baby 2.93kg.
Let me share stories of my delivery.. At 38 weeks, I went for a regular antenatal check up @ SDMC ..1st time I did my CTG.. For those who don’t know, CTG is done to check for any contractions and fetal heart beat. My Obstetrician, Dr Delaila told me my baby’s head is fully engaged but there was no contraction at all… CTG showed straight line… hehe not even a bit.. she predicted i would not deliver anytime soon.. maybe 1 week later..2 days later, I went to One Utama with ibu & ween because Auntie Ida wanted to give a lunch treat before I deliver. That morning we went for an early lunch @ Delicious. I had a yummy lunch, grilled balsamic mushroom sandwiches, drink iced chocolate & shared a few desserts hehe, Brownies ice cream, bread & butter pudding & apple crumble yummy…
at about 3pm, I went to the toilet & felt wet… I thought I accidentally pee on my undergarment.. But it became more & more @ 6pm… with some show..
Then later @ 7 pm, I started to feel the contraction pain..at first it felt like “ perut memulas” hehe so, I thought because of too much eating during lunch hehe..

At 8pm, suddenly I felt a gush of fluid from down there..my waterbag broke & that time I knew that the time has come.. Initially I wanted to wait until longer, but I couldn’t because the contraction pain was very painful,.. I couldn’t sit at all … I was sweating… so, Ibu adviced to go to the hospital…. Alhamdulillah abah gave a piece of paper with some surah n gave me air zam2 to drink.. Abah reminded me to read the surah for a smooth delivery… I was thankful that my parents, sister & hubby were there..

We arrived at the labour room @ 11.30pm.. Dr Delaila did the VE & os was 3cm.. She advised me for epidural as my contractions were too strong 3-4 in 10... 1cm for every hour.. means i have to stand the pain for another 7 hours.. Alhamdulillah, after epidural, the pain was less.. At least I can lie on the bed comfortably.. But I still couldn’t sleep… my hubby was seating on a chair beside me… he couldn’t sleep either.. Both of us were very excited .. Waiting to see our baby..

At about 5.20am…they told me it’s time to push, os was already 10cm..usually i'm the one who asked my patient's to push but now i know It is actually difficult to push..difficult to describe as well hehe. I heard subuh azan at 5.50am & soon after that i delivered my baby… Alhamdulillah, she came out smoothly.. Without epi.. I only had 1st degree tear Alhamdulillah.. Syukur Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly. Thank u sayang for being there during my difficult times..



We decided to name our lil girl.. Arianna Sofea Bt Md Ariza.. Arianna means lively, Sofea means wisdom.. Giving birth is a wonderful experience.. I'm thankful to Allah for giving me & hubby this precious gift.. Hopefully I could be a good mother to Arianna Sofea & dedicated wife to my hubby, Ariza.. InsyaAllah..
